An MBTA Green Line "E" train, representing nearly 20 years of Green Line technology, pulls into Prudential Station on the "E" (Heath Street, formerly Arborway) branch. The lead car is one of the Type 7 Kinki-Sharyo cars which replaced the PCC's and the troublesome Boeing-Vertol LRV's, and the trailing car is one of the problematic BREDA Type 8's. Green Line trains usually run like this or as a pair of Type 8's in order to accomidate handicapped passengers, and seeing a pair of Type 7's running together is uncommon. Prudential Station was originally called Mechanics, as the station was underneath the Mechanics Hall on Huntington Ave.. When the Mechanics Hall was replaced by the Pudential Center in 1964, the station name was changed to Prudential
