I know that there are a lot of former Foster Youth that have joined the military and this song is my prayer for all. I have been so touched by these courageous men and women that I had to write a song about my feelings. In the middle of the night and in a moment of tearful reflection, I couldnt help but think, what if one of those soldiers were my Son, my Daughter, my Brother, my Sister or my Mom or my Dad?

My heart is full of gratitude for all of the relatives of soldiers that are fighting for my freedom and protection. This song reflects my appreciation for this great country that I live in and the sacrifices of past and present Soldiers which have allowed me the Freedom and Liberty that I enjoy everyday. Their courage cannot be matched. Their Loyalty to Protect our Country is amazing. They fight to protect the Freedoms of Americans they have never met. Many have fallen along this journey; they are the Heroes that are engraved in my soul. It is in pure humility that I salute them.

I wrote this song in the middle of the night and never thought it would ever have this much success and touch so many. I have sang this song to thousands of people from Military, Gold Star Parents, Veterans, Big Harley Davidson Rides and Civilians.

When I wrote this song, the term Soldier was intended for ALL Armed Forces. I wanted to show my appreciation to the United States Military for defending our Beautiful Country. One Nation, One Team.

P.S. The angelic voices that are singing with me are the lovely Miss Erica Dement as well as two of my sons ages 3 and 5.

  • This song means ALOT to me. My son, Sgt. Nicholas Ray Gibbs, was killed in action in Ar Ramadi, Iraq on December 6, 2006. It still seems as though it was just yesterday. Both of my parents are still alive and I had to bury my ONLY son, my best friend, my rock, the ONLY constant in my life. I will take this with me to my grave. RIP my #1 son, Sgt. Nicholas Ray Gibbs!!!!

  • i have tons of respect for people in the military because most of my family is in the military and i wana go in and live up to there legacy and also because i want to be remember be doing something nobody would dear to to do

  • people think when they go off to boot camp that war is like in the video games and movies. Let me tell you, its nothing like that so when you arrive to Fort Jackson/ Parris Island/ Camp Pendleton/ wherever you better be ready for the toughest and most challenging months of your life. Its the mental part thats the hardest, being away from your family, kids. Being shot at makes you realize how close you are to never seeing them again. Its gut wrenching work, its worse than what the recruiters say.

  • @nicksarmymom1 I am very sorry for your loss

  • these words touch my heart very deeply. I am honored to be the wife of a disabled Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. It is nice when people are able to place words to the feelings that many of us feel. In my case my husband has been home for 5years 19days from Iraq but due to his severe PTSD I still haven't gotten my husband back. Thank you Sir!
