Different tamper this time, flat on the bottom with angled sides. Initial flow on one side gave way to pretty even extraction. Same (too) dark roast. Crema dark but didn't hang around.

  • again... you can tell you are first doing inside tamp and then correcting it... by the way how is presso??? worth buying? im tempted

  • whoops.. wrong account! In any case, a bit of unevenness in the extraction certainly doesn't ruin the shot, as long as the temperature is in a good range and the coffee is good! -Henry

  • Hello, only my flat tamper fits well (49mm)- actually the convex (I just realized it should be convex, not concave!) tampers that I used were just rounded things I found around the apartment and none of them fit very well... I think that with the stock presso basket a convex tamper might be best ('cause of that indent for the basket spring). I'm gonna buy some baskets for a Millenium Pavoni (51mm) and see if I can get a more even extraction with that. -Henry

  • Thank you for posting these extraction videos! What do you feel are the pros and cons of flat and concave tampers? I've only used flat and would like to experiment.
