I do not think you have ever read Iqbal's work. He never said muslims cannot exist with non Muslim. He wanted to preserve identity of Muslim; that is why he suggested the creation of Islamic state.

Muslims should not put him in the same level as our beloved prophet, he was good poet and ordinary person with lots of faults and some big ones like being a Nietzscheian (which is in contradiction to pure monotheism), he should not to be compared to the messenger or a personality which a muslim should take for guidance.
