With all the pomp and grandiose ceremony of this rendition, it lacks the sweetness and poignancy of the original which is just Joan and her acoustic guitar. I love the song but this is a bit too overblown for my taste.

Lou Reed rocks the house down. The velvet revolunary man!

In any of these types of multi-performer settings, Joan Baez usually has the most commanding voice (in terms of range and power, you can usually pick her voice out, even if there are eight or ten others singing), even now that she is nearly 70, but here, Renee Flemming gave her a run from her money.

i love renee. but she is lucky to be involved in this at all. joan baez and suzanne vega are amazing artists the world over. lou reed is a legend as well. renee in this case, is the odd woman out. i am sure she was quite honored to be involved.
