I think foreign oil dependency was an issue in Nixon's admin as well. Jon Stewart's Daily Show on June 16, 2010 has an entertaining and informative sketch ,might be called "8 Presidents"

@ikedyson just like all the presidents except Lincoln and kennedy

Energy Independence is not an issue that came up 10 years ago but has been around for at least 40 years

My goodness! Look where we are today. Why didn't we listen to Presidents Carter & Ford?

GERALD FORD - FREEMASON FOOL. IDIOT.

I give President Ford a lot of credit for taking on Energy Policy when he did.
Passing a Comprehensive Energy Policy that promoted American Energy Resources, getting America off of Foreign Oil & moving us towards Energy Independence would of been a big boost to are economy & made the Economic Crisis of the Late 70's & Early 80's less painful.

give that man 40 more almanacs!! they've STILL done nothing--this needs to be re-broadcasted to the useless group of people that make up the US Congress (HOR/SEN)

You cant sell congress on energy, because congress in owned by the oil industry. unless we never relect someone back to congress.
I always have, and always will love and revere Pres. Ford, very deeply. He was a very kind and caring man. He was always very honest, and really felt our pain as a people. I only wish we had him in the White House today. Then at least I wouldn't need to fear the imminent loss of most of our political and civil liberties.

Gerald R Ford was way ahead of his time on the energy situation we are in today. The problem today is much worse and nearly impossible. I remember President Ford. I also remember gas below 70 cents!
