I think this song is a metaphore. Tom Cruise being yourself. His "crazy" being our fear of growing up and change.

Well, I didn't know Jonathan Coulton, living outside the U.S., he's not known where I live and now I think it's a shame. I mean, we can listen to Miley Cyrus (she's persecuting me!!!) and not guys like him! Anyway, extremely good writer and performer. I particularly enjoyed this one.
