Clyde OTIS's song from Columbia years ("Soul Sister" album).

"These early recordings show her remarkable path. she wasn't Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday or anybody else. She was, and is ... Aretha".
Dick CLARK, american television and radio personality.

OK, Natalie COLE won a Grammy Award for best jazz vocal performance in 1994 pour her recording of "Take A Look" but according to me the best version is ARETHA's one. Just because it's SOUL, LOVE and GOSPEL.

You should listen her "Dear LORD, oh Dear LORD, What's happening to precious grace...". DIVINE.

Clyde OTIS, songwriter and record producer, (1924-2008).

  • Got to see Aretha in my teens '64 singing from her soul at The California Club and thought she would lift the roof off the little club...musical treasure "Take A Look" is the extraordinary box set to have...Bravo Aretha!

  • ALL HAIL THE QUEEN!

  • So relevant now, in these times as the days of back then, as time continues on....

  • this woman is able to sing any song and make it sound great. she puts her own stamp on anything she sings. now that is true talent.
