Just another test of my new SVP T-500 HD camcorder. This was filmed in 1080p during a light snow shower at about 10:15am. Straight off the camcorder and onto YouTube.

  • Overall, how is the camera quality? In the past SVP has been terrible. Have they made much progress here?

  • This is the first SVP product I've ever had, so I can't compare to the past, but I will say, for the price, the camera's great.

I'm sure it's incomparable to, say, the Canon HF100, but for a lower end HD camcorder, I'm quite pleased with it.

I'm not a big fan of the buttons or the overall layout (and no HDMI!!!), but I'll sacrifice those for the great image quality.

  • Hey dude

Thanks for the video. Its very impressive quality.

I hear it has lights just under the lense at the front? are they worth it?

Ive also been keeping a close eye on the JAPAN DX5. It has 60fps unlike the svp but has no optical zoom, or lights.

    Just wondering on your opinion?

    Thanks heaps

  • Yes, it has three little lights that go on with the push of a button. They work well up to about 10 feet.

And the optical zoom works pretty well. Takes a couple seconds for the auto focus to kick in sometimes.

  • Hey I was thinking of getting the Aiptek Action HD 1080p and then I saw your video. Do you love this camera? How is it syncing up to your PC? Thanks for the video and your response

  • Hi

Overall, I do like the camera. The buttons feel pretty cheap and it doesn't have the best layout, but as you can see, the HD quality is pretty impressive. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is.

I've had no problems connecting it to my PC. Just plug it in with the provided USB and you're good to go. Movies are saved as .mp4, which isn't my favorite, but YouTube has no problems with them.

Honestly, I'd recommend this. I'll probably do a review at some point.
