Baptism in the Holy Spirit is Regeneration (Born Again). You cannot be a Christian without it. We receive the Spirit when we believe in Jesus and make him our Lord and Saviour. Regeneration is what makes us children of God. When we first believe, God puts His Spirit in us and removes our sinful nature. The Spirit witnesses with our conscious and convicts us when we do the wrong thing and gives us peace when we are in the will of God.

  • hi brother i have wondered if you have read the book called "The death of a legacy of error" if you have could you let me know your thoughts on it, we may have something to do together to preach this truth throughout the world, and i would like to know you better, God Bless.

  • @Gate2enter4life47 well said brother

  • Luk_11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Joh_14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Only Christians can be Baptized in the Holy Spirit, but sinners when repenting are baptized into the body of Christ, or born again if you prefer.

  • In fact Chapter 8 of the book of Acts is a vital key to the truth that there are indeed two separate experiences. One called the rebirth where the person is born of the Spirit. The other requiring gifted men to lay hands for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The laying on of hands is one means whereby believers are baptized in the Holy Spirit. The book of Acts 10 shows that they can get it during anointed preaching. Luke 11 is proof that the person is a child of God before he can have it.

  • But the born again believers were to experience the Baptism of the Holy Spirit when the Apostles came down from Jerusalem. Well after they had been born again.

  • When did the Samaritan born again believers in Acts 8 get Baptized in the Holy Spirit? If what you say is truth. So actually Acts 8 proves you are in error on this matter. Jesus did not say "You shall receive salvation" when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, but that you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. To be Baptized into the Body of Christ, and there is never any reason for laying on of the Apostles hands. You can be born again alone in your bedroom.

  • We do not need outward signs. The Old Covenant was a way of such things. The New fulfills all ceremony and symbolism and all that is left is life. The Spirit IS life! Water baptism is not what Jesus died for. Why do it anymore? It was given through another man for Jews but through Paul it was revealed that there is now just one baptism. Tongues are the sign to unbelievers of what the new birth is, the rest and refreshing Isaiah promised and that Jesus said to come to him for.

  • @Fiddich123 Exactly right. And without it we do not belong to Christ.

  • So funny....

  • Peter encouraged us to be Baptized as an act of faith. You can recieve the Holy Ghost in a number of ways. Jesus said that if you simply ask it will be given to you, and promises it towards his sheep. In the end the fruit of the spirit is the evidence of it's being recieved (Galatians 5:22). Regeneration is not expressly defined by speaking in tongues, or prophesy, ect. If you have recieved these then good for you.
