  • just wondering, is this in any way the "British method" in any way that it wouldn't work with a tie purchased in the US? long story short- my dad needs to learn how to tie a bow tie and insists that this way wont work with his tie.

  • @NikySportsPromotion Hi, in order to tie the bow tie by the method we've shown in the video, it has to be long enough. If you're Dad's tie is a bit short, what we would suggest is that he ties it without the "wrapping round" bit - in other words, it would be much the same as tying a shoe lace - this is perfectly acceptable and a very simple method. Hope that helps!

  • thats hard.

do you think it's too formal to wear one during the day?

  • Bow ties are definitely back in fashion.

During the day, bow ties can work if they are a busy paisley design for example preferably made from English Madder silk which has lovely muted tones - and worn with an equally busy shirt, such as a Madras check, with a softly constructed collar.

This is a great look for a smart/casual occasion worn with denim.

  • this method is useless. Far far far too messy.

  • we know there are different methods and everyone has a favourite - what would you recommend? Perhaps you could add a video yourself for us to see

  • I'm a bow-tie wearer of 15 years or so... and I've never seen this method before! Just when I thought I'd seen it all!

  • @TMLewinOFFTHECUFF boyintheblue just got OWNED...with class and style.

  • I really like this method and have found it much easier than passing the second bow behind the first. However, there is a really annoying "page turn" effect right at a crucial bit in this clip that made it much harder to see what is going on. I had to play that part loads of times to get it!

  • Can you please do a video of the suits that you have.I was really tempted to splash out yesterday £500,I had to settle for a shirt instead.

  • A bow tie could certainly be worn during the day but absolutely not with a dinner suit / tuxedo as these are formal eveningware.
