I spent a lot of time and money on this plasma TV only to learn what not to do in the future. I heard people say it's best to change both buffer boards with the Y-sustain board but I thought I knew better. Apparently not in the case of this Samsung TV. Oh well at least I learned something I could share with others.
If your an advanced technician and would like to learn more about Plasma TV repair here is a link to an ebook on the subject.

  • Hi GrantsPassTVRepairs,

great video`s i learned a lot from them.

i was wondering if you had time you could answer this question...

i have a Sanyo DP42746 PLASMA tv, i replaced 4 buffer ic`s on the upper buffer board and one mosfet on the Y-main, i tested for shorts and made sure ALL legs of the ic`s were making contact. i turned on the tv & there is an LED light on the power board that is flashing 12 times, when i put my meter on the three D12V wires the voltage reads 11.58 for one second.???

  • @gamerepair2020 Sorry but I don't know what the 12 flashes represents on your TV, and I can't draw any conclusions based on a one second 11.58 volt reading.

  • Hi GrantsPassTVRepairs,

is there any other tests i can do to figure out if it is a short or just a blown out circuit.

i can tell you this, if i remove the ribbon that is going to the logic board from the Y-sus board the light doesn`t blink and i get 12 volts or about 12 volts from the D12V wires on the power board.

    thank you.

    @gamerepair2020

  • @gamerepair2020 Yes there are a variety of tests you can do to look for shorts. You can do the current draw test with your amp meter, the resistance test with your ohm meter, the voltage drop test with your volt meter, The light bulb technique. and a couple others. The power supply book which I list on my website at TV REPAIR INFO . COM has a detailed

description on the how to part if you can't figure it out using my free videos.

  • my tv doesnt work and the bufferboard is whats messed up i was wondering me if you could tell me where you got the bufferboards?

  • @TheCornejo24 You can put the buffer board numbers printed on the board in a google search engine and find places that sell them.

  • Im with you on this one, I have a 50 inch Samsung plasma on the floor next to me. So far ive replaced the main powersupply 3 times, the Y-board 2 times and every other damn board in it as well, got it working for a day or two, then something else fried in it... Im throwing in the towel.

So the thing i´ve learned from this; pray to the lord that it goes bad WITHIN the warranty period... Im getting an LCD tv instead :)

  • Hi, GrantsPassTVRepairs,

Ok, i`ll try a few of those tests and get back to you.

    thank you for your help.

  • hey man thanks

  • I am thinking consumer reports is not doing its job anymore.

They should open up the sets and check the internals.
