Just a quick update on some hutchison cells, showing a comparison between magnesium/ carbon electrodes, and the standard copper, galvanized pipe. One also has to consider that one uses rods, and the other uses cylinders, as well as the differences in mass in relation to each other.

  • @GBluer Thanks, yes I watched it already, and am making them with various mixtures.

  • Awesome video...

Can you do some more, perhaps detailing the process and ingredients?

Great Work and keep experimenting and documenting...

    :)

  • @overlogg John Hutchison has a video which shows you how to make these step by step. His channel is "johnhutchison1".

  • AWESOME WORK!

  • @overlogg Well I left out the calcium carbonate, and the sodium silicate, but I used all the same ingredients. Not sure about the ratio's as I just eyed them, no measuring. Also you want to make sure that you grind the materials into a very fine powder. Not sure what other variables there would be. I have read that the galena specimens vary greatly. Instead of using a stove, I use three tealight candles to heat the mixture in a stainless steel measuring cup.

  • @Wavefront101

Yes, That is how I found your channel...

It seems you aren't using the same ingredients, is why I left the comment!

    cheers!

  • @mmyr123 John Hutchison invented these cells. I'm only trying to replicate them.

  • Thats pretty cool. Where do you come up with this stuff?

  • yeah great work awesume
