Beach Smoking Ban Challenge

Challenging the intolerant and unsubstantiated call to ban smoking outdoors, especially on beaches and in parks, by anti-smoker activists and nanny state office holders. This is not "public health" related in any way. This is Public Hate and the further persecution of adults who choose to smoke on the slippery slope toward de facto prohibition.

In March 2010, Madi Swayne, president of the San Clemente High Surfrider Club, appeared before the San Clemente, California, City Council and reported that volunteers at a beach cleanup the previous Sunday had found 1,307 cigarette butts among the trash they picked up, and more than 37,000 pieces of Styrofoam.

37,000 pieces of Styrofoam versus 1,207 cigarette butts.

In 2007 after the July 4 holiday, San Diego beach cleanup volunteers collected 9,000 pounds of trash and 20,000 cigarette butts. A cigarette butt weighs 0.00767 ounces. 20,000 buts weigh 10 pounds, the weight of a house cat.

The butts were 0.1% of the total trash collected.

thats nothing. If you wanna see real discrimination, look at the marijuana smokers. It hasnt killed anyone but they go to jail just for possessing it while cigarette smokers and alcohol drinkers get full freedom to do what they want.

@alltheliars Laguna Ca, is the 1st city in Orange County to prohibit smokers lighting up on home patios.

City Council Wed gave approval to a amendment to its smoking ordinance, it prohibits smoking on patios & balconies. New law, will go into effect in 30 days, applies whether the patios r- open or enclosed, residents r- allowed to smoke on enclosed patios if patio windows & doors r- shut.
