Has your child's identity been stolen? While identity theft is often committed by strangers, sometimes parents and other relatives steal the financial identities of children to get access to more credit.

  • These are great questions. I'm still wondering why Medicare still requires a senior's SSN be on their Medicare card? Medical SSN abuse - growing as fast as Child SSN abuse. - Ilyce

  • There is very little you can do other than police your own SSN carefully (frequently). You need to be especially careful that you lock up your child's SSN card, don't throw away anything with his or her SSN on it, and take precautions not to leave personal finance documents (tax returns, credit card bills lying around.)
