  • Scottish or Irish , it does not matter. Because both nations share one thing. We are Celts and proud.

  • this one of my favorite song no matter who wrote it or sangs it,,,,,,,,,,,God Bless

  • @CFCShame Who gives a shit?

  • @starfell86 But yeah, I always thought it was Scottish, so maybe it should say Scottish in the tags too!

  • @CFCShame

it was written by Francis McPeake from Belfast (so wikipedia says), although based on a Scottish song/poem (not sure which). There are loads of Scottish descendants in this part of the north of Ireland, who still feel proud of their Scottish roots - Ulster-Scots/Scots-Irish. Also the people performing this version of the song here are Irish, as far as I know...

  • I soung at school

  • @CFCShame this song was written by William McPeake, a Belfast man...The Braes of Balquhidder by Robert Tannahill which is the song william mcpeake took "inspiration" from is scottish but this version is actually irish song.

  • LOL Why the fuck is their 'Irish' written in the tags when this is a Scottish song?

There's fuck all Irish about it.

  • such a beautiful song!
