After an attempt to build my own DIY viewfinder, I just went ahead and got from eBay a Chinese replica of the Estonian LCD viewfnder for just £15. You put a sticky frame on the LCD screen and then the viewfinder attaches itself with magnets to that sticky-frame. Very useful piece. Work perfectly on my Panasonic GH1, and I'm sure they've got one for your Canon too. The only thing is that you shoudn't keep it on all the time, or else the sticky frame begins to un-stick.

@hypertope yes i got one of those now too! when I made this video they weren't yet available at those prices.

My one seems to hold fine. if your screen comes off you should ask for a replacement. my $17 one holds on really tough, and i'm pretty sure is the exact same one you have.
