  • My Greatgrandfather was born in Germany. He enlisted as a private in the 4th New York Infantry when he was 18. His Hometown was New York City. He survived Antietam, Chanceloresville, and Fredricksburg. He reinlisted in the 39th New York Infantry, was wounded at Spottsylvania Courthouse. VA. Also at Ream's Station Va. Eventually made Srgt. major of the Garibaldi Guards. 39th New york infantry

  • Wow, it's really amazing that people went through that. Marching formation style into a hale of bullets. Especially interesting are immigrants who fought like your Greatgrandfather from Germany and others like the Irish Brigade.

  • Thanks jjseckjoe684. It is a great historic area to visit. That whole area from Fredricksburg to Gettysburg. Did your grandfather survive the Bloody Lane? What part of New York was he from? Are you from New York?

  • Very Nice video. My Greatgrandfather was with the 4th New York Infantry at the ill-fated attack on the Bloody Lane. I have the photos of the dedication of the regiment monument taken 25 years after the battle. Thank You for the video
