Life on Mars (ABC) - the US version conclusion

This is the last 5 minutes of the US version's finale. Sam Tyler wakes up to find he is in the year 2035, on a "gene hunt" (clever pun) to find 'genetic DNA' on the first mission to Mars... a very different ending from the original BBC series.

I'm ashamed to be living the US with this crap on TV.... the UK version was 50 thousand times better!!!!!!!

I loved the the U.S version. I absolutely loved it. It was my favorite show at it's time. But the ending SUCKED. I was devastated to hear that it was cancelled. But when they ended it with this, I had no comment, until I thought about it. Then I was like Mavakor, and thought "What if he was in a coma still?" It'd make since, seeing as he still had the shoe on at the ending.

I actually liked the ending and before anyone bites my head off, I'm Australian and I also like the UK version. I'm happy that they didn't do a carbon copy of the ending because, if they did, what's the point? Why not just watch the Brithish one? This ending also really made me think, is the ending literal and the shoe is just symbolism or did he fall deeper into the coma? And, if literal it also works. It changes the message to one about father's and son's. I loved the "Dad" line.

so much potential...... so much disappointment. And seriously with the Obama references???? I honestly thought this was a joke. Great story Great characters. Great Acting. Terrible ending. Terrible graphics. You can even see in all the actors faces that this ending sucked.

@TroyCarm After being brought out of a coma,in reality,he decided to commit suicide&to go back permanently,to save Gene Hunt&the group from being killed,by the armed raiders,as he became friends with Gene Hunt,as well as being in love with Annie&wanted to be with her.Also we never know for sure if it was made up or if this world existed,for dead or dying people.The American version should have stuck to the other-world reality,instead of this.That would have been better.This is comical.

Why didn't they just have Sam Tyler throw himself off of the Empire State Building or the Brooklyn Bridge&have a similar ending to the UK show?With Bowie singing Life On Mars.Then Sam could have woken up in 1972&continued life there.

we all know that you have not one shred of originality but do us a favor. Copy shows from Spain or something, or France. This ending SUCKED!!!! kindly leave UK shows alone.

what a dire ending , the only thing it shows is the producers shot the bolt too soon as the ashes to ashes series told the whole story as it was meant to be

ashes 2 ashes tells the whole story life on mars was good but it was only half the story
