Drum cover of "I Will Not Bow" by Breaking Benjamin
I tried to play it as correct as possible so the tempo might have suffered a bit and even still I messed up here and there. Sorry. I used a $100 Blue Snowball Microphone placed under the drum set while recording so hopefully the quality is decent enough. Oh, and this was a while back so I have no idea why I was doing that weird pinky thing on my rolls. Again, I apologize. =)

My Setup:

Gretsch Catalina Maple - Tobacco Fade Sunburst

(cymbals top to bottom)
Zildjian ZBT 16" (cracked) Crash
Wuhan 14" China
Zildjian A Custom 20" Ride
Zildjian A Custom 16" Crash
Zildjian A Custom 12" Splash
Zildjian A Custom 18" Crash
Zildjian A Custom 14" Hi-hats

(heads)
Toms - Evans Onyx
Snare - Evans Genera HD Dry
Bass - Aquarian Super Kick II

The blue things are RTOM Moongels

  • @AustinIsJoeCool Dude.. Cobus is ten times better... anyday! Go look him up...

  • @littletaterdumplin What you have to realize is I especially made this to mimic the studio version for those of us who actually want to cover the song as best we can. Cobus does his own thing and props to that, but I like watching covers to see how close people can get to the actual song, not to see how good the drummer is..

  • Should I get Evans Onyx or Remo Pinstripe?

  • @Shriffican I switched to Remo pinstripes because they sound better, especially with my set. They have more of a typical sound for rock music. Onyx looks better but is for heavier stuff and should never be put in with a Gretsch Catalina set. lol that was a mistake.

  • How did you tune your snare?

i love the sound of it!

  • @TehOddProductions thanks, well, if you are curious about the beginning of the song, I turned the snare half on, and then fully on for the rest of it. And it is tuned pretty low.

  • Nice pinkies when you do your rolls. Bring those in and they'll come out MUCH cleaner.

  • Not a bad cover but you need to crank that snare up alot!! and def switch that Aquarian Super Kick II for an Evans E-mad.

  • First, you did a pretty good job, probably as good as I could have done, and I've been playing for years. Don't listen to those putting you down. It takes years to become excellent. That is the joy of drumming... you can always get better.

  • Nice Job, What Kind of Ride Cymbal is that? (Like size and Type) I know its Zildjian A custom, but what kind?

  • @kevincaz85 if u wanna c the version chad does go on his youtube page & he breaks it down

  • @kevincaz85 I have to barge in on this thank god someone realizes the point of covers, actually watching it being played SOMEWHAT right. Instead of just doing a bunch of random fancy shit... Thank god one of you gets it.

  • where do you buy those gel muffs?!

  • ur not bad, but this is not the way to pley that song ... gud luck with anothers

  • @kevincaz85 Btw.. i have the same cymbals as you! :D
