Back. 1st, a belated ty to ceehof re details per the rebuilding of Montsegur.

One might consider that no children died in the pyre. Documents used for A MASSACRE AT MONTSEGUR by Zoe Oldenbourg

do mention one child, the seigneur Raymond de Perella's son Jordan, who must have been very young, "since he seems not to have taken any active part in the defence."

Jordan is recorded as one of a few hostages used as collateral per a final 15 day "stay of surrender", so possibly, he survived.

p.s i didnt mention earlier , but your wise facts about the actual building that sits atop montsegur having been rebuilt over the years changing, that had never occured to me, i have today been trying to find a picture of what the battlements looked like during the 3rd crusade siege, but have had no joy finding, do u know a source on web or do you know how it differs in appearance today as it did then, this is of concern to me and would be great if u could give me some direction, thanks again

Wow! I had no idea that a dialogue had begun here. I am in Beziers after visiting Minerve, and will return to Canada next week. I have book which seems to describe the seige of Montsegur quite accurately-- yes housing up there was cramped, but ``hanging like bird's nests¨¨? :) colourful! Sorry, my WiFi time is up. The prophet Jesus preached 'worship god.' He did not preach 'worship Jesus.' When Jesus died, Peter began to preach Christianity as 'worship Jesus.' By the Christian definition, a cult is a religion that does not preach the original message. Therefor Christianity to day is a cult by its' own definition. The Koran recognizes Jesus as a prophet for a reason.

1. What is with this word "Cult". Their is nothing "Cult" about christians. 2. I have studied the cathar history for over 25 years now and they are a big inspiration in my life today. I don't think that we can come even close in trying to live our lifes like they did. 3. I belong to no religion, but it is not fair to condemn the whole roman church just because some sick men are in their midst. This is to easy, you must know that.

So why did the Christian Cult wait over 200 years to murder the people of Beziers?

Cathars allowed women priests/bishops etc. They were actually celibate instead of raping little boys like the priests of the Christian cult do.

Woodcrafter1372, the cathars were christians, gnostic christians to be correct.

But they did'nt approve with the dogma's of the roman church. Babtism, marriage, e.g. And they did'nt regognize the "holy pope" to be the voice of God on earth. And by doing so they instandly took away the power of the church. The church had to act and it did in the summer of 1209 when the people of the city of Beziers were murderd.
