  • To quote Led Zeppelin: "And as we wind on down the road... Our shadows taller than our souls." Something to that effect.

    Terrific stuff.

  • Many thanks, Twohawks. I think I managed to cram examples from all of my favourite artist's work into this one :).

  • 'They called me mad. I called them mad. Buggers, they outvoted me.' I wish I could remember who said that, it is one of my favourite quotes! Strong images in your video, powerful.

  • Ha, yes. Ironic, really; I originally intended this channel to be a source of deviant art, poetry, film etc, yet the "Art and Inspiration" section has turned out to be the most neglected. I will be remedying that in future. Many thanks for the kind comments.

  • Please do let me know, as and when you do. Thanks.

  • I will indeed. At the moment, I'm working on a short video that features the paintings of artist Edward Hopper along with one or two salient quotes from the man himself. I will endeavour to keep you informed.

  • building a last reserve." He entered an insane asylum in his 50's at which time he declared, "I am not here to write, but to be mad!" Institute Benjamenta, the surreal film by the Brothers Quay, was based on his work Jakob von Gunten. I love the mood of that film. Very fascinating post. Thank you.

  • Yes... that fine line between mad genius and genial madness... who is qualified truly to define? I know I have dangled a delicate toe into the deep waters of either side at different times of my life. I had to think, upon watching, of a favorite author of mine, Swiss-born Robert Walser. He wrote his unpublished works in idiosyncratic private ciphers which many thought to be proof of incipient madness not the product "of a desperate genius...

  • Nathaniel Lee, playwright, upon being committed to Bedlam in 1684... I loved that so much I had to look it up. That will definitely come in handy some day.
