@thallium200 I beleive you said "it has no trunking ability" which is exactly what scanners do. These types of receivers (I have a JRC NRD 545 and an ICOM R75) do not follow call groups or any of the new digital technologies, they're more for simplex shortwave listening. I had an option on my JRC receiver to include the higher frequencies and it was awful. These just don't do that well. I supposed one that did both wold be great, but it's not here yet.
@gtc1961 Maybe you could point out where I said it was a scanner. My PCR-2500 is MUCH more cost effective, more portable and has about 95% of the same features. Yes I know all you "Experts" that don't own any communications equipment are going to respond after you have to go and read the specs. Don't bother they will all be deleted before even read.
@thallium200 dude, it's NOT a scanner! It's a communications receiver, a whole differenet animal. With this you can pull in faint signals all over the world. Uniden and RS scanners are for local police/fire and other service listening.
@196712345 You dont know what your are talking about. The R9500 is Communications Receiver not a scanner. If you need to listen a trunked system go buy a scanner a RS for 300$.
For $15k and no trunking ability? How about apco-25? It would look much better in black or gray. Im sure the Government doesnt mind the 15,000 dollar pricetag since they will be the only ones buying this toy
