Former Batangas governor, jueteng lord (illegal gambling) and Nacionalista Party-candidate for Batangas governor Armando Sanchez died on April 27, 2010, a day after he was rushed to the hospital where he underwent three-hour brain surgery and remained "semi-comatose."

Sanchezs death was confirmed by Dr. Isagani Bolompo, Sanchezs family doctor and medical spokesman, GMA News 24 Oras said.

Last April 26, 2010, Sanchez was rushed to the Mary Mediatrix Medical Center in Lipa City after suffering from a heat stroke in the middle of a campaign.

Damage to his brain was so severe that he was only given a "five to ten percent survival rate."

Before he died, Sanchez was running for Batangas governor, a rival of former Lipa City mayor and actress Vilma Santos. Santos, a former Laks-Kampi-CMD member, is now running under the Liberal Party.

Sanchez was a two-term mayor of Santo Tomas (1998-2004) before becoming Batangas governor from 2004 and 2007.
