  • Liza does an amazing tribute to Kay Thompson in her show, Liza's at the Palace! After seeing this clip, I can see that Liza does an amazing job recreating Kay's nightclub act. If you have not seen Liza's show, go!!! It is the most amazing time I have ever had in a theater. Liza's at the Palace will go done in history as Broadway's number one 2008 event!

  • Thanks for posting....video of her - I think are difficult to come by. I too wonder why she and Judy never performed together in a show. Seems she would have been a guest on The Judy Garland Show. Thanks again.

  • Thanks so much for posting this video even though the quality of the tape has dimished over the years. Kay Thompson was one of the great names in theatre mainly for her vocal techniques. I never saw her perform but I've heard stories that her performances were legend. I'll never forget how she nearly stole the film Funny Face ('56) from Astaire and Hepburn with her first rate performance. She was a real presence. Thanks for the glimpse at her live performance.

  • @dannybex I thought you might be so young (to me that is anyone <35) you thought I meant the Ebb-Kander "New York, New York" and never heard the song I meant. Yes, the first 4 notes are the same, "NY, NY = Hello, Hello" and would be enough for a plagiarism suit if all the principals didn't already know each other and were friends, as was the case here. I love Kay, also Patsy Cline, but when Patsy appropriated the first notes of "Some Enchanted Evening" and put her name on it, she got busted.

  • Not sure what my age has to do with anything. "Hello, Hello" is not "New York, New York". Only the first four notes are the same.

  • @dannybex Your age, please?

  • @luvlizam The Hollywood Palace ran for years...

  • @defundthewar Yup, sorry, you're wrong.

  • "Hello, Hello" is really "New York, New York, It's a Helluva Town." Am I wrong?
