Chapter 11 (How Much Is A Trillion?): Recently, we have gotten used to hearing the word "trillion." From trillions of dollars of government debt to trillion dollar bailout packages, we are spending enormous sums of money. However, most of us dont realize how much a trillion actually is. Dr. Martenson explains how much a trillion is using a few examples, such as a 67.9 mile high stack of $1,000 bills. As he concludes: "Make no mistake, a trillion is a very, very big number and we should not be lulled into complacency simply because it is too big to really get our minds around. That should drive us to action instead."

  • Nice video but I think you should have done it with 100$ bills instead of 1,000$ bills. Nobody uses 1000$ bills and I think 100$ bills would have been better. Hell nobody uses 100$ bills anymore, maybe you should have done 20$ bills

  • heh anyone wanna cam and swap pIctures then let me know

  • Sky's the limit literally

  • Thank you sir this was eye opening and astonishing

  • @zedt01 Actually. The circumference of the earth at the equator is 24,901.55 miles (40,075.16 kilometers).

    But, if you measure the earth through the poles the circumference is a bit shorter - 24,859.82 miles (40,008 km). This the earth is a tad wider than it is tall, giving it a slight bulge at the equator. This shape is known as an ellipsoid or more properly, geoid (earth-like). Hi i'm a cunt, have we met?

  • Instead of $1000 bills lets use $1 bills for an example. 67 x 1,000 = 67,000 miles for a trillion. Then times 67,000 by 15 for the $15 trillion of USA on sheet government debt. 67,000 x 15 = 1,005,000 miles. The circumference of the earth is 24,901.55 miles. Divide 1,005,000 miles of $1 bills by 24,901.55 miles for the earths circumference. 1,005,000 / 24,901.55 = 40.35. So USA government debt in $1 notes would go around the earth 40 times. Fuck me, we are in trouble.

  • hm why does this remind me of double book keeping..?

  • A better trick for understanding what a trillion is.

    $ 1 Trillion = $ 3238 [ per US citizen* ]

    * ~300 M, 2010 census, wikipedia.

  • @fasteddie847 just multiply the length by 10. So instead of 67.9 miles it would be 679 miles.

  • How did you get the money to make this video?
