Aircraft Wreckage of Sabre Jet XD730
On the 22nd of July 1954, Sabre Jets XD707 & XD730 were taking part in Exercise Dividened. After decending through low cloud to check ground position, it is thought that they collided whilst climbing to fly over Kinder Scout, both aircraft clipped the top of the hill and crashed onto the Ashop Moor side of the hill. Killing both flying officer James Desmond XD 707 and Flight Lieutenant Alan Green XD730.
