An inquisitive turkey vulture at the Scovill Zoo in Decatur, IL, tries to steal my classmate's folder.
Before this, she was following me wherever I went. That's why I love turkey vultures- they're very curious and smart!
Turkey vultures are native to South America and much of North America. They typically live in colonies of many birds, and eat carrion. They are very beneficial birds; by eating decaying animals they are preventing the spread of disease. Turkey Vultures are a protected species in the United States.
This particular vulture was housed with a handicapped red-tailed hawk.
