how long does it usually take for you to get these games to play without crashing? and how do you go about figuring it out? through the ubuntu forums?

@ronpack @ronpack usually not long , once the is game set-up it runs better than in windows os, of course depends also on your computer , my system is good I got a nice Nvidia video Card, My games never crash on me ... and how I figured out ? depends on the game some of them you have to hack them... its hard to explain but works like a champ..
