The only racing game I've ever cared about, this versatile and technologically impressive 1990 release is most fondly remembered for

a) its user-friendly level editor, and
b) its insanely buggy car physics.

The physics engine frequently breaks down and produces some truly spectacular and gravity-defying stunts (such as the car suddenly and without warning flying off in a straight line up towards the stratosphere), which can then conviently enough be saved for posterity thanks to the handy in-game recording function.

A game ahead of its time in more ways than one, "Stunts" is a highly enjoyable classic, which should appeal even to gamers who try to stay away from titles such as "Gran Turismo 4" and "Burnout".

Oh, and the music is great...

  • Btw i wouldn't consider the physics as buggy. It did fail sometimes but was still revolutionary.

  • @tod4y The physics in Stunts *are* revolutionary...which is probably also why they don't always work as expected. Still, there's something absolutely insane about some of the glitches (such as the infamous "skyrocketing out of a loop" bug) which most players would see relatively often, so it's hard not to notice some of the more obvious (but also wonderful) flaws in the system.

  • Wrong adlib emulation, should have used the opl2 emulation instead of opl3

  • I used "auto" on opl mode, which is the default in my DOSBox frontend.

Sounds exactly like I remember it, and that's what matters most in this video series.

  • My Childhood!!!

  • Brings back memories of my childhood, thanks for the video. Don't play stunts very often anymore because there is Track Mania now. Infact, Track Mania 2 is currently being made. :)

  • Only thing missing is the sound when you crash :)

  • My beloved one.

  • O man, so many memories. I used to love this game.

  • This music reminds me of a game called Midwinter by Mike Singleton!

  • God this brings back memories...

  • Looks like a great old game. Thanks for uploading.
