At the daily White House Press Conference, April Ryan asks Robert Gibbs about President Obama's "thoughts about slavery" and before she could finish her question, he jumps in and answers, "Opposed."

He then realizes it's "a very serious topic," but then adds, "It is Friday, I'm just trying to have a little fun."

  • i REALLY like this guy, we need more NORMAL people in washington.

  • There's a lot of instances where one can criticize Robert Gibbs. However, I don't find much wrong with this exchange. I found it mildly amusing.

  • Bill Clinton didn't apologize for slavery. George Bush didnt...umm didnt Abe Lincoln set all of them free? This is retarded.

  • gotta hand it to that guy - i'm sure they get a lot of poor questions ... lol good video

  • Didn't Bill Clinton Apologize already? *lol*

As a Black Woman, would rather see ALL Americans (white, black, brown, asian, native, etc) Apologize to YAH GOD Almighty & turn to HIM who is the Creator of ALL Life, for their Lives Past, Present, & Future! THAT is the Only Apology that Will Change this Nation for the Good! There is too much Innocent Blood STILL crying out from the Ground of America, and SHE is REAPING, & will going down to Destruction IF there is No Repentance as a Nation!

  • @chrissline77 Living in the past doesn't help anything. Besides only white Americans were involved with slavery in America and it's not something we should have to address now because all participants are dead. The blacks of today haven't suffered like their ancestors and apologies have already come into play more than once. So why must white America keep apologizing for a mistake we the current generation didn't make? By implying more apologies are needed, it makes me sick to my stomach.

  • @shadowedge69 .........Here's what I think. I would apologize to Blacks for slavery because it shows a sign of respect and class. I'm not apologizing because of something that I did..... my apologize is saying that I'm sorry you were treated so terribly and I regret that it happened to you.

  • @chrissline77 Funny thing is their own people sold them as property. As a matter of fact, slave trades still exist in Africa now. Black people destroyed themselves. You know who really deserves an apology? All the white people blamed for slavery just because some of their fore fathers might of owned them. Imagine if my great grandfather robbed a bank, should I be held accountable because we share the same family lineage? Nope. Black people should feel embarrassed about their slave trades.

  • @shadowedge69 ............. Well here's what I think. I think America owes Black people an apology for the black Holocaust that has destroyed them. The black Holocaust was called slavery.

  • @chrissline77 I think the Jews need to apologize for killing Christians in Russia during most of the 20th century. It was over 100mil Christians killed by Jews in the communist country during that time frame prior to the Holocaust. The bottom line is this is a circular argument and we need to just write off our losses. Nobody in power today had anything to do with the Holocaust so I'd say Hell no.

  • @chrissline77 Only the ones still living. They should have been apologized too the day they were freed, and made sure we learned from this mistake. The holocaust is still very fresh to many..A hundred years from now not I don't think Germans should apologize for it they should learn from it same as we should..I won't apologize for something I had absolutely nothing to do with, and my family tree is full of abolishinist so we were not involved at all...

  • @Karen9521 ............Let me ask you this question in response to your statment. Do the Germans owe the Jews an apology for what they did to them during the Holocaust?
