  • Well, that's right. We're all the same - we're humans. And it is interesting that in different countries people classify race differently. If your president Obama lived in S Africa, he'd technically be coloured cos of being mixed race :-)

  • @JohnfromPerth Yes John I'm South African. You woul;d be part of the white community. You probably would have been during apardheid too, unless there was something which led them to believe you were coloured. My surname is sort of Afrikaner, its of French decent originally. So you live in Perth? How is the racism situation in Australia these days?

  • @JohnfromPerth No you wouldn't. It's about cultural heritage/ background as well as skin colour. If you are white with olive skin, you would just be white. A good analogy is the term "latino" in the USA. Just cos you might have a dark skin, doesn't make you latino, its about your background too. But, in South Africa Barack Obama would not be considered black, he'd be coloured :-)

  • @JohnfromPerth No not anymore. In the "old days" that might have happened. But its about your cultural heritage/background too. If you are white with an olive complexion you won't be considered coloured.

  • Africa looks like a beautiful land.

  • how soon we forget..........
