The Doctor is over 900 years old, has had children before plus grandchildren (how could we ever forget the lovely Susan!) so does anyone else find it really gross that all these hormone ridden human females that are barely out of their teens keep being referred to as his true love? I just wish they'd keep romance out of this show instead of trying to make it like all those American shows where they always have to throw sex into the mix. I can't even watch the 11th Doctor eps because of R.Song.

@katieanne101 well if I remember the start of the 1st season with the 9th doctor he had just regenerated, meaning that he had just ended the time war (he didn't even know what he looked like yet) where he stated that he was like 900 or something and here he is aparently 902-3ish so in that sense the time war was only a few years ago in his timeline.

They way he talks about his family makes it seem like he lost them centuries ago. But I think the time war wasn't all that long ago (for his life anyway). It was during his 8/9 regeneration. 9 was pretty fresh from the time war so at most he lost his family maybe 50 years ago but really it's probably only a few years.

@mirriran but we already knew he had a family before Jenny. He told rose in one episode that he was a father once, and the 9th doctor mentioned it as well, not to mention that in the original doctor who he travelled with his grandaughter susan.

I enjoy scenes like this between the Doctor and Donna. With most companions, it's a sort of flirty exposition. When he talks with Donna, though, it's more like talking to a family member - likes Donna's his older sister or something.
