Based on the conviction that musicians can play an important public service role, Community MusicWorks has created a opportunity for a string quartet to build and transform its own community. Through the Providence String Quartet, Community MusicWorks provides free after-school music education programs that build meaningful long-term relationships between musicians and children in the West End and South Side neighborhoods of Providence, RI.
Absolutely WONDERFUL what you are doing in the community. I will share your story with my 8th grade daughter, who plays viola in her school orchestra.

This is a great video. It takes you to a neighborhood where kids grow up without a lot of opportunities and shows how string quartets might change that. A quartet is so intimate. Maybe kids will want to be part of one, where four people play great music together, everyone depends on everyone else, and no one is the boss.

That's gotta' be the best music program in all of Providence. No, in all of the US. No, in the whole world. Or maybe in the whole universe. The youngsters probably could knock the socks off of any wanna'be rockstar in the milky way.
