Artists statement
Ming-Ta Du (Brandon Du)
San Franciscos Chinatown is the largest and oldest Chinatown in North America. It is the embodiment of Chinese society in America. It contains very different traditions and customs from western culture. At the same time, its traditions are different from those actually from Chinese culture. People come from all around to shop in Chinatown. Many people can be seen carrying a pink plastic bag around. The bag not only carries fruits and vegetables but also the associations of a whole society and culture. For me, as a Taiwanese person in Unite States, these highly symbolic bags represent Chinese Beauty in San Francisco.
P.S. Thanks Nonoko chan's help sticking all the wall
