The French Canadians have a constitutional right to the French Civil Code in Canada, a right which dates from the Treaty of Paris, and is confirmed in the 1774 Quebec Act, obtained from King George III by the 1773 Petition of French Subjects led by the Church. I live in Quebec, I like the Code. I'd like it better if the crooked lawyers and judges here respected it, instead of using it as a front to impose their own arbitrary views.
