Directed by Camilla Calamandrei
A Rolling Rivers Film Production

Fresh on the heels of a recent fatal tiger attack near London, Ontario, The Tiger Next Door tells the story of a man named Dennis Hill who has been breeding and selling tigers from his backyard in Flat Rock, Indiana for over 15 years. After a surprise government inspection, hes lost the licence that allowed him to keep exotic animals, and the state of Indiana is threatening to shut him down. He has just five days to find alternate homes for all but three of his brood and to bring his facilities up to code.

As Hill fights to hold on to his tigers over the days and months that follow, director Camilla Calamandrei follows him exploring his motives, his past, and the curious, ethically murky world hes created in his backyard. At the same time, she takes the documentary far beyond Denniss animal compound, illuminating the connection between breeders like Hill, and the near-epidemic of wild animal keeping in the United States.

  • this creeps me out

  • @clarasdaddy The fact that you personally know him does not change the fact that he is a criminal, delusional, irresponsible NUTJOB! It just means your bias has blinded you to reality.

  • I bet thieves will never sneak in his house!

  • WACK JOB!!! Hey I saw this last night and I can tell that yes he loves them but his cages are in poor condition and his animals aren't well taken care of. He's broke with tigers. WTF only in America! Someone please get those animals away from this man and into the zoo or jungle or where ever they came from and can get taken care of. My heart breaks for those animals! They shouldn't be caged with someone who's low on cash. :/ Anthing can happen to them or the people around them.

  • i have known Dennis Hill for many years and he IS a great man. you don't know what this man has been through.

I am proud to call him my friend and those cats are his "children" and I am proud to say he takes care of them so much. when his cougar died he was in a depressed state for a very long time.

I have had the pleasure of "adopting" a tiger of his named Baboovah and I can tell you first hend , "yes she is a wild tiger but she also is a "cuddle cat". she is very affectionate and my baby.

  • He treats them like his own kids?? He keeps his kids in a cage??? And he sells them off to strangers???

  • @ebaygeek3 i agree

  • Dennis got a bad rap on this show.

  • You will never be able to provide for a wild animal & give it everything it needs. Watching TigerNextDoor proved it's absolutely INHUMANE. Hill bred not for the betterment of the species, but purely for profit. It's really sad that people can actually condone Hill's neglect of these beautiful cats IMPRISONED in his backyard. I'm disappointed that people across the US are owning, breeding, selling & buying these awesome cats that don't deserve to be born into captivity. They deserve to be free!

  • Disgraceful. Treats them "like his own children?" Would he sell his own children? Disgusting. Tigers and ALL WILD ANIMALS belong in the WILD, not to be exploited and abused for profit. Shame on Dennis Hill.
