@3hkb I'm pretty sure you're talking about what we call the 'shoulder' cuts. I like to use a dovetail saw for this part as it gives me better control. I also don't like to use a table saw unless the boards are laid flat. You might be able to do it with the proper fence and some sort of jig, but it's not they way I do it.
