Red Dwarf-Centric Mock Ident of the 'Rotomotion' ITV /Channel 4 Schools ident. Created for use between videos at Dimension Jump 2009 and possible subsequent events.

This is one of the hardest things I have ever tried to make within 3DSMAX. The mathematics involved in making sure all the pieced rotated correctly as the ident may had to have been looped indefinitely.

Created Using a collusion of After Effects to animate the gradients, Illustrator to prepare the logo and 3DSMax for the animation itself.

  • where oh where did you get the hifi stereo version of the 'du-du-du-dud--der-der' happy whistley counting down music? this makes my nostalgic endorphins come alive.

  • @effigymotion the 'happy whistling counting down' is called 'Just a Minute' written by Brian Bennett (under the moninker of James Aldenham.

It's library music so it's hard to come by. I found my copy on a forum.

This music used to actually scare me as a child, I remember watching the Rotomotion ITVSchools logo hoping I wouldn't see it....

  • @djouroboros thanks for your help on the music. and well done again on what must have been a very fiddly project to time perfectly.

How cool would a dvd menu with this on be? a. very.... Send it to BBC worldwide and see if they include it as a secret easter egg on future blu-ray releases of RD

  • @effigymotion I've already got something I made on the RD DVDs so i'm happy enough with that :D (it was the Lego animation clips on the Fan Film montage on the Series VII DVD) :D

  • its impressive :D

  • @coolcattigger Thank you very much!

  • @djouroboros thanks for your quick answer. Me thinks i will now convert the flash to an mp3 so i can have it as my ringtone - all correctly tagged of course. Cheers squire

  • @makingmocks It's in the description dude. After Effects for the colour gradients, Illustrator to prep the logo and 3DS MAX for pretty much everything else...

  • Excellent! What software did you use?

  • i like it, well done.
