  • @01Proust I totally agree. I train BJJ and Judo, BJJ is my main thing though. But when you combine BJJ with Judo, your all around better fighter. Ive gotten better in BJJ through Judo, and better in Judo through BJJ, They both compliment eachother

  • @TheLanMandragoran Good point! Every Judoka has to include also these kind of things in his training. Allowing to bite from time to time and allowing eye gauges on the ground is great because all the dirty tricks demonstate that fighting on the ground is always a bad thing in self-defense. Of course a Judoka should also train a bit of Karate or Boxing. I will never understand why some Judoka train BJJ except if they just want to do some more sport.

  • @fecoki There is also Kosen Judo which is very similar to BJJ. As Kosen Judo is similar to BJJ it is not useful for self-defense where you have to finish off an attacker quickly but it is a great sport. I think people should distinguish sport = BJJ and Kosen Judo and self-defense = Judo. Self-defense means to fight while standing and it means to fight very fast on the ground in case of need (judo ne waza is very powerful and very fast and therefore useful for self-defense).

  • @SirRoman1998 Good point! As for self-defense also the BJJ fighters seem to prefer doing Judo. On old youtube videos Helio Gracie shows his self-defense: He uses a lot of Judo nage waza and a lot of moves similar to Aikido. I really don´t understand why BJJ fighters have problems to admit that 98% of BJJ which they use on BJJ tournaments and MMA is just a sport. I think the BJJ fighters should really watch Helio demonstrating self-defense techniques!!!!!!!!

  • @01Proust Some people do not understand the difference between tournament BJJ, and street BJJ. In a street fight a BJJ fighter isnt gonna do a fancy flying submission or crazy guard sweep. For street you would execute a takedown or throw and get on top, and when on top you submit or just stabalize the position. Tournament BJJ and Street BJJ . Big difference

  • I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo. Combined they are VERY useful. You cant really compare them though, a Judo match ends after an ippon. BJJ is by submission. Judo fighters should learn groundwork, and BJJ should learn stand up.

  • @Longhornzrock96 Well now you do buddy ol pal!!! /sarcasim!! then way make comments sugesting a judo guy would lose if the fight had continued on the ground? not sarcasim!! maybe the BJJ guy should take some judo classes to be a better fighter/again not sarcasim

  • @01Proust BJJ is just improvised Judo. Any martial arts with the word Jitsu is designed to kill, maim, or defeat by bodily harm. Anything Do is more for sport. The original Japanese Ju Jitsu is the real deal whre they teach you eye gauges, throat biting, testicle crushing, arm, neck, finger back and leg breaks and dislocation. So do not worry about BJJ vs. Judo because real Jujitsu beats both combined. It actually has a real non sport fight application.

  • @REGtomcat1 Oh really? i had no idea that happened. /sarcasm

  • @Longhornzrock96 And if i remember correctly didnt Masahiko Kimura a judo fighter beat Hélio Gracie...the founder of BJJ by submission?
