This is the last ten minutes before the music died on the BIG-10 WCFL Chicago. The date is March 15, 1976 and it's 4:51 PM, just 9 minutes before the big format change. Larry gives his big address to the nation. Please be sure to listen all the way to the end at 5:00PM when the music died and WCFL was never the same again. WCFL tried several different formats after this date but never was successful again. The station is now WMVP all sports...sigh!

  • Whoa! This brings back memories. WLS and WCFL. Chicago back in the day. Thanks for posting this.

  • Hey, Reeb, take note: being from Chicago, you should know THIS is the one and only "Uncle Lar"

  • I loved Larry Lujack! I grew up with CFL and WLS. It sucked that CFL changed format. I was a kid and lived about 50 miles away from Chicago (in Northwest IN), and I had my transistor radio to my ear everyday. I'd even sneak it into school and get busted with it. LOL! Long live rock!

  • It's weird to hear this when you were listening to it live! I did not recall everything he said except that the sound of waves would play for a while after they ended the format.

  • adios Larry

  • "It's 5:00 at the Voice of Labor..." Man, those are some memories...

  • Lar Lujack was a great inspiration to me back when he was at WLS. He was instrumental in getting me on the air.

  • Mighty 690 wape Jacksonville check it out.

  • Wow, what a classic piece of Chiago radio history. I love the custom cut Reunion "CFL rolled me" tune. Thanks for posting this, it brought back many memories.

  • I love how you can hear all the guys crackin' the fuck up in the background. I love it!
