I ran my Supervee 27 in the ocean at rocky neck state park, Giant Neck Heights.. Its this place: http://tinyurl.com/ku9cdt . My top speed was 27.5 mph even with turbulent seas. I measured it with a small GPS device stored in the hull. I plan on using it more this summer with some upgrades (more fins for stability) and at a beach with 3-5 ft waves.

To clear up a few things:
I run in salt water for the waves dude!
i get water inside but not enough to matter
supervee's HAVE a flat hull, and deep vee boats have a concave shape

how waterproof is the hatch? just wondering with the ocean being saltwater if it messes anything on the inside.

its not waterproof at all, it takes at least an hour to clean and dissemble the innards so saltwater does not ruin anything. well worth it though! now i tape the hatch and that is the only sure way to get it watertight.
