The tagalog song by the Black Eyed Peas, Bebot, was played in Ugly Betty's first 2007 episode as a background music for the Japanese designer Oshi.

It is a strange choice for the character.. Oh wells, it has a great beat!

  • "what place is this where have you brought me" :0

  • Filipinos are Asian too! -o- lol

  • hahaha.. wtf??? i have a theory.. maybe one of the writers knew that it was a filipino song and wanted to put it as the japanese dudes theme.. just to get a bunch of reactions from proud filipino's... wow. trolls existed longer than i thought xD hahaa

  • HAHAAHAAAHAA

  • At list they think Filiipino's are asian. MAN i spoke to a lot of people thinking they are pacific islanders! (thats like Samoans) just like people think indians arent asian! LOL

  • @azngurl1213 they don't know how to tell the difference between Asians..

it's just like sometimes in movies they have a Columbian speaking Spanish and they say that it's a Brazilian

a lot of film directors aren't really cultured or don't care about representing other cultures, just want to fit the white man's stereotype of minorities

  • Dude,the man's Japanese!!!!!!!!Why the f*ck are they playing a Filipino song?!?!?!

  • LOLLLLLLLLLLLLL thanks so much for posting this! Been laughing about this scene for years wondering what song it was!

  • @MAGHUYOP86: It's OK, kabayan, really. I'm a Filipino from Manila, and I think it's hilarious that they used (of all things) "Bebot" for a Japanese character. I mean, ROTFL. Here comes this designer, dressed in Japanese couture, but his signature music is blurting out he's a "bebot". Wahahaha! Talk about added, unintended comedy. It's like the secret revenge of the Filipino World War II guerillas (against a fictional Japanese character).
