HarbourLink would provide a 1.6 km long elevated multi-use pathway (for cyclists, pedestrians and wheelchair users) totally separated from traffic. It would link the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the top of the Warringah Freeway at a superb grade of just 3%.

  • change your silly helmet laws for over 18's and you will see people flock onto bikes literally!

  • @Stevemaizuru the politicians were lobbied by car insurence company, petrol compant etc to discourage people turning to bike riding as main transport instead of cars, I think......

  • Harbour link cycle way makes so much sense-thanks for the presentation.

  • At least Sydney's harbour bridge has a cycle facility. Here in Auckland, NZ you can't even get onto the bridge unless you are in a car or a bus. I hope you get the cycle way because usually Auckland will follow Sydney's lead with an approximate ten year delay.

  • I don't know that we'll ever get to a 'flat' Sydney but this would certainly be a very positive step towards getting more people on their bike. Wouldn't it be just lovely to see riders everywhere on the way and back from the CBD at peak hour? I for one would use the Harbourlink at least 3 times a week to go to work. Thanks for this great presentation.

    It will

  • Premier Nathan Rees used to be a serious competitive cyclist and triathlete. He also commuted by bicycle from the outer western suburbs. So he should be the cyclist's friend.

  • Why won't the government build it?
