Trekking in Thailand to visit and stay over in a Jungle Village inhabited the Karen tribes people. The Kids from the village did a Traditional dance for us dressed in ceremonial clothes. It was Amazing. Typically this trip is around $50aud for 2 nights in the jungle, elephant trekking, Bamboo rafting, Meals and transfers to and from your guesthouse. Not bad! enjoy - m10

I've been trekking there, it was cool.
All you need is a few chickens, pigs, cows, some dogs and some crops and a good attitude, light a fire at night, access to medical care when needed. I suppose they also want the pickups, and all the mod cons as quick as they can.
I like the sound of the jungle at night, there's a story being told in that sound and its very assuring.
