  • One of these tool sets was sitting around the folks house since I was a kid. It was my dads and I never knew how to use it before he passed away, but now I do. Thanks a bunch!

  • @IaintTheHerb I too was frustrated because I had never seen one in use. Reloading my 44-40 cases are easy, maybe due to the fact that they are very thin walls at the taper to the neck. The dies do not resize the case. The bullet compresses against the black powder, unlike smokeless powder, but does put a nice crimp on the bullet.I also have a 45 die set but have yet to use it. I use my Lee press for those straight wall cases.

  • @curtisshawk I have yet been able to decap a 45 case, its too hard and I am afraid I will break something. I need to get it back out and figure out whats wrong with it.....or me!

  • @IaintTheHerb PM SENT

  • Don't you use wads? or lube at all? doesn't accuracy fall off after a short time without lube and action start to lock up?

  • @taylorman1949

Wads were used for a very short time back in 1873. Then they no longer used them. The purpose of the wad was to keep the blast from burning the base of the bullet.. No longer needed. Lube is on the bullet inside the lube groove. I use a soft black powder lube that keeps the barrel clean for many shots. The cylinder gets dirty and tries to lock up way before accuracy falls. Hope this helps.

  • Great video, so easy looking.

A person could reintroduce this tool into the market as per-caliber 9mm, 38sp, 357m, 44mag. I would buy it, if was under $75 as a complete reloading kit !!

  • I've loaded many round of .38 spl with this tool. It works great but I do not like to use it to prime. I use a RCBS hand priming tool. That way my greasy fingers don't touch the primers.

  • @duelist1954 I'm getting smarter about these 310 tools...it looks like Large or Small doesn't relate to the handle length, but to the height of the collar the dies screw into.

Mine is less than half an inch higher than the handle base...0.416 inches in fact. I think the large handles have a higher collar to accommodate rifle dies...

    Can anybody check for me?

  • Curtis, How long is your 310 tool? I have one and I don't know if it is a large tool (boy that sounds bad...LOL) or the small tool. Mine is 7 3/8th inches long. I want to get .45-70 dies for it, but the Lyman catalog says they are for the long handle tool, so I don't know if my 310 can accommodate them

  • Very informative with a very fitting song. Great vid.
