JAY BLACK WITH A SOLO EFFORT IN 1975 WITH A CLASSIC THAT WAS COVERED BY THE SEARCHERS AND JACKIE DESHANNON. RELEASED ON THE PRIVATE STOCK LABEL AND PRODUCED BY BOB MONTGOMERY AND WRITTEN BY JACKIE DESHANNON.
Black is a great singer, but his take on this old DeShannon composition was just okay, and a little too slick and modern sounding for my tastes. Check out Miss DeShannon's original version of this song. It's really something. I don't know who produced DeShannon's version, but it has a real Spectorish quality to it. Too bad DeShannon is more famous for her less-rocking material.
