@cooperdogable I agree SO much with you. Sting brings such a unique and incredibly musical interpretation to this. He could use a bit more knowledge on the Baroque style, but his musical instincts (untrained) are very strong.

what's amazing about this is the beauty of the accompaniment. With the lute you've got to get the acoustics exactly right and this is acoustically perfect - magic! A marvellous combination. I have to say that Sting is lucky to have this guy working with him.

I can imagine Sting captivating the heart of Elizabeth as the court favorite singing Dowland. His voice transcends time. For those who complain that Sting is not classically trained, it is important to realize that in the late 1600s there was no "classical" training. Therfore Stings singing of this great music may be closer to how someone might have sounded then.
Fortunately we live in an age where Emma Kirkby, whom I also love, and Sting can cover the same music beautifully and uniquely.
