This videocast explains Vitrual IP (VIP) usage in Oracle Clusterware 10g and 11g - why they are needed and how they are used. A must know for any Oracle RAC DBA.

  • I'm Russian - I can use my accent so that nobody can understand it. ;)

"but they should configure them as an alias or whatsoever". By alias, I mean network interface alias.

  • Awesome explanation. I always wondered about the virtual IP but never got a hang of it until I see your video. Thanks for explaining very well and with a good demonstration of the video. I am now trying to understand SCAN IP (11g). Do you have any video that explains about this?

  • Alex what are you saying in your video at 7:30-7:32? I can't for the life of me understand lol. You were saying something about not letting your system admin configure your VIPs as something, but I can't understand what it is you said.

    thanks
