In today's mass produced, modern economy, the method of getting things done quickly in large quantity has hurt the quality of guitars which George Gruhn poses were made at their best in the 1930's. George contests that guitar manufacturers should have woodsheds because air seasoned wood would results in a better sound than wood that's kiln dried under a vacuum so that its ready to use much faster.
I bet its not too tough to guess how most manufacturers are drying their wood. Just as long as Jack Daniels and other fine liquor companies don't follow suit, there won't be a problem. Watch the video for reference and learn more about wood than you ever knew.
I checked out a video at the library a long time ago. George was explaining how to appraise vintage instruments. He didnt have a beard back then. Very informative just like this. Thanks so much for posting this! I just like to hear this man speak!
